ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ohio gas prices fell last week to an average of $2.72 per gallon for regular fuel from $2.74 the previous week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Prices in the state are about 7% lower than the national average of $2.92 and show a steady decline.  Mansfield News Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dead birds have been found along waterways as cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza emerged. Officials advise residents to avoid contact with dead birds (and keep pets away) and to use gloves and a mask when disposing of them.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Meijer recalled one-piece footed sleepwear for children because it fails burn safety rules. The recall covers about 211,500 units sold from December 2024 through October 2025 in Ohio and other states, and customers should return the garments for a refund.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Local high school teams competed in the 2025-26 winter sports postseason with recent contests in diving, bowling, and basketball held earlier this week.   • WMAN-AM is airing high school basketball games this season, starting with the Madison at Lexington match today (pregame begins at 7:15 p.m.) and continuing with sectional and district games featuring play-by-play by Aaron Hines on 1400 AM, 98.3 FM and the iHeart Radio app.  WMAN
