  • The Rigby House at 240 Park Avenue West was built about 1897 for the Rigby family—known for their cigar business—and shows a mix of Queen Anne and Classical Revival design, including a curved front porch with paired columns and an original slate roof. It later served as an office and was listed on the National Register in 1987, standing as a historic reminder of Mansfield’s manufacturing past.  1812Blockhouse
  • Seniors at the Lexington Senior Civic Center took a self-defense class on Wednesday afternoon organized by Trustwell Living Mansfield Place to learn safety tips—teachers Renata and Gary Music showed how to protect against attacks and advised on purse and environment safety. A follow-up class will be scheduled so they can practice these skills further.  Mansfield News Journal

  • The 2025 Chamber Expo held Thursday at the Richland County Fairgrounds attracted a large crowd—local business owners, contractors, and community leaders networked—showing strong local interest in future projects.  Mansfield News Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students from 34 school buildings will show their art at Artapolooza, a free festival put on by the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center. The event will run from Friday, April 4 through Wednesday, April 9 at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center at 890 W. Fourth Street in Mansfield — it will also have an awards show on April 9 at 6:30 p.m.  1812Blockhouse

SPORTS NEWS

  • Local sports fans are invited to vote for the preseason player of the year among Richland County baseball players before the 2025 season begins. The contest recognizes players’ postseason honors from last season (including Jay Jackson and Nic Eyster) and voting ends at 7 p.m. on Friday.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Loudonville’s Dilan Wade made 11 three-pointers in a Feb. 13th win over Temple Christian—tying his earlier record. He said he will try to break the record in the upcoming NJ Classic all-star game—joining elite players who set the mark before.  Mansfield News Journal
