FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Taxpayers in Mansfield can use the IRS online tool to check their refund status or request an extension if they need more time to file before the April 15 deadline. An approved extension gives until October 15 to file without penalty, but any taxes owed must still be paid by the deadline — e-filed returns may receive a refund in as little as 21 days. - ➤ Shelby's Brayden DeVito, Crestview's Justice Thompson and Mansfield Senior’s Kyevi Roane were named the 2024 to 25 MNJ Boys Basketball Players of the Year — DeVito led his team to a record of 16 to 9 while Thompson broke a 60-year scoring record and Roane became only the ninth Tyger to exceed 1,000 career points. - ➤ Thirty-six Richland County boys basketball players earned honors on the 2024-25 All-Mansfield News Journal teams, with 12 receiving All-Ohio, 30 earning All-Northwest District and 21 recognized as All-District 6. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ Shelby's Eve Schwemley, Clear Fork's Mel Blubaugh and Lexington's Makaree Chapman were named the 2024-25 Mansfield News Journal Girls Basketball Players of the Year after notable senior seasons that saw Schwemley average 21.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.9 steals while leading her team to a conference championship. Schwemley will represent District 6 in the Divisions I-IV North-South All-Star Game in April + both Blubaugh and Chapman earned top honors with record-setting seasons and All-Ohio recognition.
