WorldAtlas named Shelby one of the 14 best places to live in Ohio for 2025, praising its small-town charm and close-knit community near Mansfield.
🎓 Education
The Madison Local Schools Board of Education approved a teachers’ contract recommendation from an impartial fact-finder’s report—voting 5-0 during a special Monday meeting.
The 209 teachers will vote today on the proposal after being without a contract since the school year began.
Today the Renaissance Education Department launches its 14th annual MindSprouts Creative Writing Program as part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series with two themes—A Voice to Be Heard for K-8 students and Voices Unheard for grades 9-12—to help local students share their stories. Participants must submit a short story, play or poem by Tuesday, April 15 and selected works will be performed on May 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Theatre.
🏈 Sports
Ontario junior Aiden Ohl and Galion junior Gradey Harding, named the News Journal’s co-Wrestlers of the Year, will become the first four-time state medalists at their schools if they clinch a state title; they battled injuries, close losses, and a controversial call in recent tournaments (both remain determined to return stronger in future competitions).
