ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Though the spring weather has brought rain and floods, Ohio will see freezing temperatures tonight that could harm early garden plantings. Residents are advised to cover plants with blankets—using row covers or mulch—to keep them warm during the cold nights. Mansfield News Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Franklin Township is asking voters to approve a permanent fire levy in the upcoming May primary after a similar measure failed in November (the levy will fund full staffing for the township's two fire stations). The levy will cost taxpayers $518 per $100,000 of appraised property value and if it fails, up to 13 firefighters will be laid off, which could slow emergency response times. NBC4i

- ➤ Residents in Richland County can safely dispose of unused prescription pills on April 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; five drop-off sites in Mansfield, Shelby, Plymouth, and Lexington will accept household pills only.
