CULTURE NEWS

  • At Grace Episcopal Church, a weekly healing Mass called 'Midweek Mending' will begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. in the chapel at 41 Bowman Ave and continues until 9:45 a.m., offering prayer, lessons, Holy Eucharist, and the laying on of hands + anointing for all Greater Mansfield residents.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Mamma Mia! returns to the Renaissance Theatre for six ABBA-filled performances from April 24 through May 3. The production, supported by local sponsors (including the Mansfield Gay Pride Association), offers tickets starting at $15.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Ashland University's WRDL radio station will host Vinylthon from 12:01 a.m. April 18 until 11:59 p.m. April 19, playing 48 hours of vinyl records and featuring a Grand Funk Railroad retrospective. The event celebrates the station's 60th anniversary and college radio’s unique sound across 10 counties.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Kristen Eisenhauer (a Shelby graduate) was named the new OSU extension educator in Richland County. She will work with local farmers to provide education and support for growing community programs.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Gouda, a smart, playful, and gentle pet (named Pet of the Week), is available for adoption at the Richland County Dog Shelter.  Mansfield News Journal

  • In May, OHSAA member schools will vote on Issue 2B (Bylaw 4-3-1) that would allow students to join a nearby public school's sports team if their home school does not offer the sport and both superintendents approve.   • The Colonel Crawford Eagles beat the Mohawk Warriors at Chuck Huggins field today with a 5+4 win after Rylie Hoepf delivered a walk off hit in the bottom of the ninth that sparked the comeback.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Voting for the Mansfield News Journal Athlete of the Week is open until 7 p.m. Friday; last week, Crestview’s Colton Ernandes earned 1,418 votes.  Mansfield News Journal
