- ➤ Richland County Prosecutor Jodie Schumacher is holding Take Back the Night at OSU-Mansfield’s Riedl Hall from 6-8 p.m. April 29—an event that will feature guest speakers, a walk of honor and a candlelight vigil to support survivors of sexual violence. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ New laws that took effect on April 9 change education, healthcare, and transportation in Ohio; schools now ban cell phone use during class (with exceptions for medical reasons or IEPs) and adjust rules for religious classes and parental notifications. Hospitals must start posting detailed prices with penalties for non-compliance beginning July 2, and voters will decide on a $2.5 billion bond measure on May 6 as the state begins a $3.2 billion construction season. 1812Blockhouse

- ➤ New Realtor.com data shows that in January the median home price in Richland County increased to $171,200 from $169,875 in December and was up 8.7% from January last year—single-family homes sold for $166,500 while condo and townhome prices dropped by 2.1% with no property selling for $1 million or more. Recorded home sales totaled $17.8 million for 96 transactions, reflecting a 4.4% increase in sales from January 2024. Mansfield News Journal
