GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Planning Commission recommended rezoning 110 acres for a proposed Buc-ee's Travel Center that could create about 200 jobs, even as residents raised concerns over traffic and safety on April 14. City Council is set to vote on annexation after May 19, and construction may begin this summer if approved. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ Ohio lawmakers approved a permanent ban on synthetic kratom starting May 14 while keeping natural kratom legal. The new rule replaces a temporary ban in effect since December (lawmakers continue to debate natural kratom regulation). Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ Taxpayers in Mansfield must file their 2025 return today, April 15, via e-file or mail to avoid monthly penalties on unpaid taxes. Those needing more time can file for an extension but still owe taxes by this deadline (penalties continue until full payment is made). Mansfield News Journal
