  • The inaugural Richland County Hall of Fame class will be inducted Saturday, April 18 at 7:15 p.m. in the Kingwood Center Gardens ballroom to honor 23 local figures while doors open at 6 p.m. for a private dinner.  Mansfield News Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • 7-Eleven’s parent company announced plans to close 645 North American stores during its 2026 fiscal year (citing softer spending and inflation) while planning to open 205 new locations; it is not yet known which of the 517 Ohio outlets will shut down.  Mansfield News Journal
  • A proposed data center in Franklin Township (northern Richland County) will include its own power plant and a greenhouse to grow food, offering new operational features for the area.  Mansfield News Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Visitors to Kingwood Center Gardens will see more than 40 giant glass and steel sculptures celebrating pollinators when 'Glass in Flight 2' opens May 23 + runs through Sept. 7. A preview reception with artist Alex Heveri is scheduled for May 22.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Local investors plan to transform the Quality Hotel into an upscale boutique hotel with a $10 million investment pending City Council approval next week; the project will upgrade guest rooms, banquet facilities, and dining areas to create a vibrant downtown destination.  Mansfield News Journal
