  • Mansfield will mark Arbor Day on April 24 at 10 a.m. at Liberty Park with a ceremony where the Shade Tree Commission will plant an oak tree (Quercus) donated by Alta Florist & Greenhouse to celebrate its 31st year as a Tree City USA.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Blinkin is an 8-month-old boxer mix who was returned to the Humane Society of Richland County because he is too big for young children + he is available for adoption at 3025 Park Avenue West in Ontario for a fee of $175.  Mansfield News Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • For tonight, NOAA predicts that northern lights may appear amid the Lyrids meteor shower; Ohio is among almost 25 states with a chance (though odds here are lower). Alaska leads the display, so local stargazers should scan the eastern sky if conditions allow.  Mansfield News Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ohio reported 11 measles cases this year and health officials urge residents to vaccinate amid declining immunization rates (ODH data). The outbreak, which mostly affects children, follows a US trend with more than 600 cases linked to Utah (rising cases).  Mansfield News Journal

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com shows that Richland County's median home listing price was $224,450 in March — slightly lower than February's $226,325. Homes averaged 1,493 sqft, were on the market for 47 days, and 114 new listings marked an 8% decline from last March.  Mansfield News Journal
