  • Mansfield Police Department will host its 10th annual Bike-A-Palooza on May 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Lake Park at 625 Hope Road — the event will offer free helmets for registered children, a bike ride with officers, a safety rodeo, bike inspections, and a raffle with 27 new bikes.  Mansfield News Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tugend Prairie is a 27.6-acre sanctuary in Worthington Township at the corner of Bunkerhill North and Tugend Roads that offers nearly 1.75 miles of trails for birdwatching and hiking. Restored from a crop field over 16 years, the prairie now features diverse habitats with over 469 plant species and various wildlife—showcasing natural restoration and rich biodiversity.  1812Blockhouse

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mansfield voters will decide on two 0.25% income tax renewals on May 6, which will each generate $4.8M over four years for projects such as parks, safety services, and road resurfacing using existing funding, & Mayor Jodie Perry noted strong past voter support for both measures.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Richland County voters will decide on several local proposals on May 6, including income tax renewals for city services in Mansfield, levies for safety and school funding, and funding for township operations. They will also vote on proposals for adult cannabis dispensaries and alcohol sales requests—voters can cast early or absentee ballots to have their say.  1812Blockhouse

HEALTH NEWS

  • NAACP #3190 will host a Minority Health Fair at Providence Baptist Church at 112 W. Sixth St. in Mansfield on April 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with over 20 vendors offering free health screenings and interactive presentations on topics such as healthy diets and mental well-being — raffle drawings will also offer prizes throughout the day.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Crestview senior Chesnie Patton and PJ Endicott helped the softball team score with squeeze bunts in a 9 to 3 win over Monroeville on Tuesday night—earning a sweep and a strong lead in the Firelands Conference. Coach Scott Durbin said he will use bunts more often—planning to keep the team focused as they prepare for a series against New London and other opponents.  Mansfield News Journal
