ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • ODOT warns drivers after multiple recent work zone crashes, including a truck hitting an excavator on SR 97 in Richland County and two incidents on I-90 in Euclid, amid 52 statewide crew incidents this year & urging motorists to slow down near crews.  Mansfield News Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Mansfield Parks and Rec and the Richland County Park District condemned vandalism at Liberty Park and Fleming Falls Preserve after a 22-year-old drove onto basketball courts on April 22 and four teenagers damaged an education center the next evening, causing $2,000 in damage and leaving residents concerned about safety.  News 5 Cleveland

CULTURE NEWS

  • Renaissance Theatre will host youth auditions for H.M.S. Pinafore at its downtown ballroom on May 23 and May 24 for performers in grades 2-12, with rehearsals starting in June and free public performances scheduled for June 27 and 28.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Mansfield area artists of all ages can submit original work for a prehistoric-themed exhibit at the Public Library as part of the summer reading program, with submissions due May 29 and accepted works set to be displayed starting June 15.  Mansfield News Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • As of April 30, gas prices in Ohio continue to near $5 per gallon, and experts say prices will remain high until next year due to ongoing geopolitical tensions. Additionally, Amazon’s Fuel Up Friday promotion offers Prime members a 20-cent discount per gallon today through May 29 (in selected stations).  Mansfield News Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Richland Public Health and the Mansfield YMCA launched free lifeguard certification courses using the American Red Cross training program, announced Apr. 30. The initiative aims to boost the local workforce and improve water safety for Richland County residents.  Mansfield News Journal
