- ➤ Over 20 students from Mansfield Senior High School’s Career-Based Intervention (CBI) program installed 35 birdhouses along the B&O Trail in partnership with Richland County Parks & Recreation to create safe nesting spots for local wildlife; they completed the final phase in early March to support the upcoming nesting season. 1812Blockhouse
- ➤ Residents in Mansfield can drop off household junk at Community Dumpster Day, which will be hosted by the North End Community Improvement Collaborative and the Richland County Land Bank on May 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the NECIC Community Outreach Center at 486 Springmill St.+ donations to support NECIC’s mission are welcome while prohibited items include tires, batteries, chemicals, explosive or flammable materials, large appliances, metal, liquid/liquid waste, drums, and tanks. - ➤ Sugar Street — the original name for what later became Franklin Avenue in downtown Mansfield — was renamed from East Market Street on June 29, 1900 after 31 local residents submitted a petition; the street, once lined with modest one and one and a half story residences, also witnessed events like an 1891 neighborhood riot. 1812Blockhouse
