CULTURE NEWS

  • Renaissance Theatre in downtown Mansfield will soon begin renovations, as the historic venue plans improvements including new seats for its 100th anniversary in 2028. Renaissance Performing Arts CEO Chelsie Thompson shared details of the (Road to 100) project.  WMAN

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ohio wildlife experts advise that a lone fawn should be left undisturbed unless it shows clear signs of distress such as crying, dehydration, or being swarmed by flies. The Ohio Wildlife Center urges residents to monitor isolated deer and call for guidance at (614) 793-9453 if help is needed.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Memorial Day will be on Monday, May 25, so banks, mail and the stock market will be closed while local stores like Giant Eagle and Kroger run on normal or limited hours. Trash pickup may be delayed + residents should check local schedules for any changes.  Mansfield News Journal

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • U.S. News ranked 16 Ohio cities as best places to live for 2026–27, with Mentor topping the list for affordability and a strong job market. The rankings placed Parma in second and Columbus close behind, while Cincinnati was mid-pack and Cleveland came in last.  Mansfield News Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wynford Royals hammered South Central 13-2 in the district semifinal Tuesday evening, with junior Erin Wolfe hitting a grand slam. They will face Margaretta in the district championship at Clyde High School on Thursday, and coach Chelsea Rice praised the team for their strong postseason performance.  Mansfield News Journal
  • The Ohio Cardinal Conference announced postseason baseball honors for the 2026 season, highlighting first and second teams while honoring standout players from various schools (including Mansfield Senior's Nicholaus Redman and Jaxen Haynes).   • Clear Fork's injured pitcher Miley Shafer led the Colts to a 5-0 win over Oak Harbor at Margaretta on May 19 and will pitch in the championship game on Friday against the winner of Lima Bath and St. Marys Memorial, as coach Adam Brokaw said the team is confident.  Mansfield News Journal
  • The Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association announced All-District 9 baseball honors yesterday. Lexington's JR Davis and Galion's Kenny Fagan earned Coach of the Year awards as standout players from regional teams were recognized for their season achievements + impressive batting and pitching stats.  Mansfield News Journal
