- ➤ Former Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson will share his faith at 9 a.m. Saturday at Storyside Church, 541 Ohio 97 West in Bellville. Richland County Outreach arranged the free event – Henderson waived his fee – and former Buckeye Gee Scott Jr. will also address the congregation. Mansfield News Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ ODNR and the University of Dayton’s Gantchoff Lab collared a female black bear on June 3 in Ashtabula County and released her unharmed after fitting her with a GPS collar to track her movements. The project will collar up to 20 bears to study Ohio’s growing population — most sightings involve young male bears from nearby states. WMAN

- ➤ Mayor Jodie Perry announced that the city board approved $50,000 in small business grants—distributed in $2,500 increments—to help local businesses that lost at least 25% in sales from the ongoing Main Street Improvement Project, which began in February and will finish Oct. 31, 2026. Officials will review further support if losses continue amid limited downtown parking. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ Shelby will receive a $609,000 state grant to build approximately 3,300 linear feet of sidewalk on Shelby Avenue from West Smiley to State Street— a project that improves safe walking routes. Local officials will add a rapid flash beacon at West Smiley and Post Street— a key crossing for school children. WMAN
