- ➤ Liberty Park's baseball field will be named after local baseball legend Ray Peterson in a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Saturday—honoring his achievements as a standout player at Madison High School and a longtime coach who shaped local sports. - ➤ The Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development announced that nominations are open for the 2026 ATHENA Leadership Award + RCDG Economic Excellence Awards, with submissions due by Oct. 3. Winners will be honored at the Evening of Excellence on Feb. 11 at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center, and early bird tickets cost $50 until Feb. 2. Mansfield News Journal

- ➤ The Ohio State Highway Patrol Bucyrus District is hosting open houses at Mansfield on July 25 and at Marion on Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.—community members can tour the facilities, meet personnel, and view equipment as applications for cadet class 178 are accepted until July 15. - ➤ Under a new state law, online pornography sites in Ohio must verify that users are over 18 using a commercial service (which checks photo IDs or other records) before granting access to explicit content that may harm minors; businesses that do not follow this rule will face civil lawsuits from the attorney general when the law takes effect at the end of September.
