- ➤ The Richland County Park District is hosting a grand opening and open house at Fleming Falls Preserve on Aug. 2 to celebrate a new observation deck funded with over $400,000 in donations from Camp Mowana affiliates—honoring the site's historic Fleming Falls Hotel roots. - ➤ Gas prices in Ohio rose last week with the average price for regular fuel reaching $3.05 per gallon on Monday — up from $2.85 the week before. The state's price was 10% lower than a year ago and remains about 2.5% below the national average of $3.13. Mansfield News Journal

- ➤ Ohio’s new biennium budget creates a $10 million pilot program — the Child Care Cred Program — to help working families split child care costs between employees, employers, and the state; families earning up to 400% of the federal poverty line may qualify, and the budget also expands provider capacity and supports early education, though some proposals were not included. - ➤ Within five years, all 215 emergency dispatch centers will upgrade to the Next Generation 911 system so dispatchers can receive texts, photos, and precise location data to speed up response—15 additional counties will join this year and a state budget change will raise cell phone fees to fund the upgrades—ensuring faster help during emergencies.
