  • Instacart data shows that around July Fourth, Ohioans ordered Pringles more than any other chip brand while national orders favored brands like Lay's, Ruffles, and Cape Cod. Ohio is the second largest potato chip producer in the U.S. (with local makers including Jones' in Mansfield) and its chip industry remains a key part of the state’s food business.  Mansfield News Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mansfield Senior AD Terra Jackson— a 1998 graduate who served as a coach for many years— is working now to rebuild the school’s athletics program and restore community support as she prepares for her formal start on August 1. She plans to restart youth programs— beginning with grades three through six— to build a solid foundation for athletic success.  Mansfield News Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Timothy McDermott of Ohio State University Extension warns that Ohio’s tick population and the diseases they carry, including Lyme disease, have increased rapidly over the past 13 years and have raised concerns for families and agriculture statewide, with Lyme cases in Tuscarawas County rising 44% this year. He advises residents to follow a personal tick safety plan by using treated clothing, repellents, and thorough tick checks after spending time outdoors (these precautions also protect pets and livestock).  Mansfield News Journal

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Milliron Foundation purchased the former Century Link building in Mansfield and is converting the 120,000 square foot space into affordable housing for veterans and seniors — fulfilling Grant Milliron’s dream. The project will include 65 to 75 units and community areas and is expected to take 3 to 4 years using funding from the foundation, grants, and partnerships to help ease a local housing shortage.  WMAN
