Trent Rodman and Paytan Byrd (both 16) from Shelby were named the 2025 Richland County Fair King and Queen after a detailed interview showcased their leadership in FFA and 4-H.

Byrd said she planned to start a mentoring program for children with little exposure to livestock while Rodman called his announcement as king a memorable moment.

A 60-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman from Mansfield were seriously injured in a hit-skip crash involving a motorcycle and a white pick-up truck at a roundabout on US Highway 42 and SR 302— the truck fled the scene as authorities began investigating.
