CRIME NEWS

  • Hackers are using fake Google IT support emails—sending password reset requests that ask for security codes—to steal Gmail accounts, and users in Mansfield are urged to ignore urgent emails and report suspicious messages to protect their information.  Mansfield News Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield will host FJ: A Tribute to Foreigner and Journey on Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m.—American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis will lead the performance while a meet and greet is set for 6 p.m. at the Ghostlight Lounge.  Mansfield News Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Richland County Foundation awarded nearly $67K in grants to K-12 teachers from public and private schools to fund creative classroom projects. A board and community committee chose the grant winners to support new programs that add extra learning opportunities—efforts that enhance students' classroom experience.  Mansfield News Journal
  • At Shelby High School, student Thaiden Sutton worked on a machine with teacher Nick Eddleblute as the school uses a $1.2 million manufacturing grant from the state to set up a new career tech lab—one of 34 schools chosen for the funding.  Mansfield News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Labor Day will be observed on September 1 when banks, stock markets, post offices and major delivery services will be closed—digital banking and USPS Priority Mail will remain available. In Ohio, many cities will see delayed trash pickup and the next federal holiday will be Columbus Day on October 13.  Mansfield News Journal
