- ➤ The Hastings Group is hosting a free carrousel night for Mansfield's special needs community at Richland Carrousel Park on Sept. 19 from 5-7 p.m. Attendees will enjoy unlimited rides on the modified carrousel and free refreshments. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ The Richland County Park District is marking its 60th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the Richland B&O Trail with a series of outdoor events from September through Nov. 1. The trail celebration will be held on Oct. 4 starting in Mansfield (9 a.m.) and the park district event is scheduled for Nov. 2 at the Gorman Nature Center. Mansfield News Journal

- ➤ The Ohio State Highway Patrol will conduct an OVI checkpoint this week with the county announced the day before and the location revealed the morning of the event—officials urge drivers planning to drink to designate a sober driver. Mansfield News Journal
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ The Ohio Lottery announced that the Powerball jackpot reached $1.4 billion—tickets cost $2 and buyers can add extra options to boost smaller prizes by matching five white balls and one red ball; Ohioans must purchase tickets by 10 p.m. ET and the drawing is held at 10:59 p.m. ET on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mayor Jodie Perry said that more businesses hurt by the Main Street Improvement Project can now apply for grants up to $50,000 in $2,500 steps because the rules were changed from a 25% loss to a 15% loss and the eligible area was widened to include more cross streets but not Diamond and Walnut. The council also talked about a mental health levy on Nov. 4, property plans, and local worries about speeding and strong smells of marijuana—moves that show the city is taking action. - ➤ The FBI confirmed its agents conducted a court-authorized law enforcement activity in the Trimble Road area at the Quality Inn and Suites yesterday with no threat to public safety—Mansfield police had no reports on file. Mansfield News Journal
