ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ohio gas prices fell last week to an average of $3.17 per gallon from $3.41, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration — prices that stayed close to those from the previous month. Prices were about 0.2% lower than the national average, with rates ranging from a low of $2.75 on March 3 to a high of $3.41 on Aug. 25.  Mansfield News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Board of Building Standards launched an interactive map to help residents and businesses find their local building department by entering an address—this tool will save time and avoid delays in starting construction projects. The map shows details from about 800 certified departments and makes it easier for users to contact the right agency.  Mansfield News Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Shelby Whippets won 49-6 over Bellevue in Week 3, ending a 15-year streak of losses on the rival’s field — the team, led by Brady Bowman with four touchdowns, improved to 3-0 as Bellevue dropped to 2-1.  Mansfield News Journal
  • The Ontario Warriors beat the Madison Rams 57-6 in Week 3 of the football season with a strong running game led by Kooper Kilgore who ran for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Coach Aaron Eckert said his team grew in confidence after the win and will travel to Clear Fork next week for conference play.  Mansfield News Journal
  • On Friday night, the Mansfield Senior Tygers lost 38-7 to Cleveland Villa Angela St. Joseph after a late score gave them their only points—dropping the team to 0-3 as they will host West Holmes next week.  Mansfield News Journal
