  • United Way of Richland County held its Summer of Caring Food Drive from Aug. 18 to Aug. 29 to collect nonperishable food from library patrons; items were sorted on Sept. 5 at MHS Industrial Supply and sent to Catholic Charities and The Salvation Army pantries—donors' efforts easing local food needs.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Janelle Blake expanded her downtown shop and renamed it Bloom and Fizz Boutique at 48 Park Avenue West to add a dirty soda bar where customers mix and match flavors to craft unique non-alcoholic drinks+ the family-run business now offers a variety of options including sugar-free choices for a local twist.  Mansfield News Journal

  • The Family Tree exhibit by four sisters will open Sept. 9 at Pearl Conard Art Gallery at OSU Mansfield, where art on trees shows their power as refuge and growth—staffed by students and free to the public until Oct.24—with an opening reception from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.  Mansfield News Journal

  • The Ohio State Highway Patrol in partnership with the Mansfield Police Department will operate an OVI checkpoint on Trimble Road from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight—the effort, funded by a federal grant, aims to deter impaired driving on the stretch between Millsboro Rd and Marion Ave.  WMAN
