ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ohio residents have seen fewer hummingbirds at feeders as the birds began their southward journey for winter. Ruby-throated hummingbirds—known for flying up to 500 miles—began migrating in August and will finish leaving by mid-October.  NBC4i

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, the Plymouth Fire Station was dedicated to honor the generosity of the late Grant Milliron — his legacy is preserved through the Milliron Foundation.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Ohio is lowering the age for seniors to get discounted fishing and hunting licenses on Sept. 30 by dropping the threshold from 66 to 65. The change lowers hunting prices from $19 to $10 and fishing prices from $25 to $10, saving seniors about half a million dollars each year.  Mansfield News Journal

  • The Shelby Whippets won 45-34 against the Galion Tigers Friday night at Whippet Athletic Complex as they outscored their opponent 25-13 in the second half—Brayden DeVito scored 5 touchdowns to boost their record to 4-0 while Galion lost for the first time.  WMAN
