  • The Community Health Access Project and over 30 local partners will host a free baby shower on Oct. 16 from 12—3 at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center to offer new and expecting parents resources, free baby items, lunch, and door prize drawings. The event will include hands-on activities such as onesie decorating and vendor bingo to connect families in Richland County with vital support.  Mansfield News Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Costco is recalling Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene sparkling wine bottles—sold from April 25 to August 26 in Ohio and 11 other states—because they might shatter even when not in use; customers should wrap recalled bottles in paper towels and a plastic bag before disposal.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Mansfield’s Renaissance Theatre — located on Park Avenue West — will host To The Limit: The Ultimate Eagles Experience on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.; tickets start at $15 and optional VIP packages include a pre-show meet and greet and a Date Night Package.  Mansfield News Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will join a free live swing concert with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra on Oct. 16 at the Renaissance Theatre located at 138 Park Avenue West — performances begin at 9:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Schools and homeschool families must register soon to secure their spots in Carnegie Hall’s Link Up program.  Mansfield News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The SSA will announce the 2026 cost-of-living adjustment on Oct. 15, and experts say it could reach 2.7%—adding about $54 to the average monthly check. However, seniors may see little benefit as rising costs for shelter and medical care along with an 11.5% jump in Medicare Part B premiums could reduce purchasing power.  Mansfield News Journal
