  • Voting for the Mansfield News Journal Athlete of the Week is open and will end at 7 p.m. Friday — last week Madion's Ashton Taylor won with 2,207 votes from 8,293 cast.  Mansfield News Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mansfield/Richland County Public Library is hosting the 'Where You Belong' art exhibit that features works by local artists exploring identity and community—free during regular hours—and it runs until Nov. 14.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Scholar and author Lerone Martin will speak at the Renaissance Theatre on Oct. 2 during the Kaleidoscope Speaker Series, starting at 5:30 p.m. and addressing how truth and history can shape current challenges; a post-event networking reception will follow in the Renaissance Lobby, and free door-to-door rides are available for eligible residents (call 419-522-4504).  Mansfield News Journal

  • The Richland County Coroner's Office asked the public to help locate next of kin for James Hinkle, an 80-year-old Mansfield resident who died a natural death September 14 at his Third Street home - anyone with information is asked to call 419-774-5868.  Mansfield News Journal
  • The Main Street Improvement Project continued to progress Monday in downtown Mansfield—buying upgrades to infrastructure and working to create a more pedestrian-friendly area. Local officials will monitor progress as the project works toward revitalizing the district.  Mansfield News Journal
