- ➤ New Life Baptist Church will host the 30th anniversary celebration for Pastor Clarence Sanderfer and his wife Nora on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. at 538 Wayne St.—Rev. Dr. Quentin L. Respress of Kingdom Power Baptist Church will speak at the event. Mansfield News Journal

- ➤ The Mansfield Art Center is hosting the 2025 Crow Fest exhibit that celebrates the fascinating world of crows with art blending nature and community spirit. Local visitors will find unique installations and a creative showcase that highlights the beauty of these birds. Mansfield News Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Richland County Seed and Crop Swap will take place on Oct.4 from 2-5 p.m. at Fleming Falls Preserve — 2276 Fleming Falls Road — where participants will gather at the power source of 15 waterfalls to learn why native plants are gaining recognition in local food production. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Madison Township residents will vote on a 4-mill fire levy on the November ballot to keep full-time staffing and maintain current service levels; Fire Chief Ken Justus warned that without the levy cuts in staffing and a drop in the department’s rating may occur — stressing the measure is essential for safety. - ➤ ODOT will host an open house on Sept. 29 from 4—5:30 p.m. at the Mid-Ohio Education Service Center at 890 W. 4th St. in Mansfield so residents can give feedback on Access Ohio 2050—Ohio’s long-range transportation plan. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ In Richland County, only three township trustee races on Nov. 4 will be contested as voters in Franklin, Springfield and Weller townships choose two trustees from a field of four candidates each—early voting begins Oct. 7 and voter registration ends Oct. 6. Mansfield News Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Jody Allton, the longtime director of behavioral health at OhioHealth, will retire on Oct. 3 after 41 years of service that reshaped patient care in Mansfield and Marion. Allton—who helped create a unique adolescent unit with Mansfield City Schools—will use her extra time to join community events and be with her family. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ A new mental health rehabilitation center called Dani’s Place will open this fall in Toledo to offer supervised care for up to 16 residents transitioning from psychiatric hospital care – it honors Mansfield native Danielle Leedy, whose death in 2019 led her parents to found the nonprofit 33 Forever. - ➤ Mansfield Christian girls soccer team played a nonleague match with Madison and finished with a 2-2 draw on Sept. 23—Ryen Anderson scored back-to-back goals before Ellie Powell tied the game in the 58th minute. The contest gave coach Jesse Rider and his team a valuable test as they maintained their unbeaten record at 9-0-1 while Madison's record dropped to 5-6-1. Mansfield News Journal
