ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ohio's archery season begins on Saturday, Sept. 27 amid a severe outbreak of epizootic hemorrhagic disease that has killed over 7,000 deer. State officials propose lowering the deer bag limit in Athens, Meigs, and Washington counties—if approved—starting Dec. 1 to manage the outbreak.  Mansfield News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio residents must check their voter registration status online and register by Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. to vote in the November general election, with options to register online, by mail, or in person at boards of elections, libraries, or the DMV (ID requirements must be met due to tightened voter laws). Early voting will begin on Oct. 7 and continue until Nov. 3 for in-person voting and Nov. 4 for absentee voting (applications must be postmarked by the deadline).  Mansfield News Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • High school football reporters Zack Holden and Jake Furr posted strong Week 5 records with Holden going 18-for-18—while Furr missed only one pick, leading to season totals of 64-14 and 66-12 respectively.
