GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Voters in Ontario will choose a new city auditor and fill an open council at-large seat in the Nov 4 election. Two write-in candidates, Shannon Gongwer and Logan Hull, are running for auditor—while three candidates, Brennen Finfgeld, Richard Pauley, and A.J. Roll, are contesting the council spot left by Kyle Webb.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Incumbent El Akuchie, a longtime pastor and teacher, is finishing his first term on the Mansfield City Council and will run in the 3rd Ward race against newcomer Crystal Davis Weese. Weese, a lifelong resident and technical educator, wants to boost affordable housing and open dialogue while Akuchie—who has led improvements with the Main Street project—says the city is growing.  Mansfield News Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, Wynford competes in the Division II state girls golf tournament at Heatherwoode Golf Club with players scheduled to tee off from 9:55 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. The team earned its first state appearance after a historic season (a milestone for the program).  Mansfield News Journal
  • Chaeyeon Kim worked hard this summer in Korea to improve her golf skills after becoming Mansfield St. Peter's first state qualifier; she will tee off today at 10:40 a.m. at Heatherwoode Golf Club and her pairing for tomorrow will be set later.  Mansfield News Journal
