- ➤ The Richland Area Chamber and Economic Development will host the 9th annual Savor and Sip Auction and Food Tasting on Oct. 23 at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center in Mansfield from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature 29 local food vendors, a wing-eating contest, seasonal beer tasting, a silent auction and live entertainment—tickets cost $30 if registered by Oct. 10 or $40 afterwards. - ➤ Richland County Children Services, the Madison Township Fire Department and UH Samaritan Richland Health Center are hosting a fall event for families with trunk or treat and touch a truck activities on Oct. 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. —If rain occurs, the event will be moved to Oct. 25 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mansfield News Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Ohio State Mansfield’s Theater Department will show the play MLES2GO from Oct. 10-13 at Founders Auditorium—an interactive production that invites the audience to help shape the evolving script on identity and coming of age. Directed by Joseph Fahey and written by Michael Adams, the play brings together students, local actors, and community members to explore personal struggles and growth. Mansfield News Journal

- ➤ Mya Frazier, an investigative journalist, will speak on Nov 6 (5:30 p.m.) at the Renaissance Theatre as part of the Kaleidoscope Series on economic mobility and systemic inequities in America. - ➤ Ohio State Mansfield will host Buckeye Preview Days on Oct. 24 and Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.—prospective students will enjoy campus tours, student panels, and learn about admissions and financial aid at Riedl Hall. Mansfield News Journal

- ➤ Richland SWCD is asking Mansfield residents to collect milkweed pods to help support declining monarch butterflies and drop them off at its office at 1495 W. Longview Ave., Suite 205 B. Free seeds are available at the office and residents must follow proper guidelines—collect only dry, closed pods and avoid trespassing. Mansfield News Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine imposed a 90-day ban on intoxicating hemp products including THC-infused gummies and drinks that will take effect on Oct. 14 at 12:01 a.m.—the order excludes marijuana sold in dispensaries and is meant to protect children from untested products while lawmakers may soon consider a resolution.
