  • Cycling Without Age (a volunteer-led program that gives rides to seniors) has launched in Richland County to offer local residents new opportunities for short outings.  Mansfield News Journal
  • A free Veterans’ Salute concert will be held on Nov. 9 at Renaissance Theatre at 2:30 p.m. in Mansfield as local musicians — AFM Local 159 Concert Band and Mansfield Symphony Chorus — perform patriotic music to honor veterans’ service and sacrifice.  Mansfield News Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Whirlpool announced a $300 million expansion that will add 600 jobs to its Clyde washing-machine and Marion dryer facilities plus create about 5,000 jobs elsewhere in central Ohio. The investment supports American manufacturing and follows a $23 billion commitment to U.S. operations in recent years.  NBC4i

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Most of Richland County has not seen an official frost this fall as the lowest temperature at the local airport was 36 degrees on Oct. 10. Meteorologist Rick Garuckas said temperatures will remain too warm on Thursday and Friday—so a real frost may not come until after Halloween.  Mansfield News Journal
