  • Coats for Kids was delivered to Grace Episcopal Church to provide children with warm clothing for winter— the donation aims to support families in need.  Mansfield News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A continuing government shutdown threatens Ohio's SNAP funding if it extends past today—state officials will spend $25 million on food aid alternatives for the 1.45 million recipients, with county averages ranging from $148.80 to $181.11 per month. The shutdown risk could force SNAP benefits to lapse on Nov. 1 if no federal funds become available.  Mansfield News Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • More than 580,000 bottles of the blood pressure drug prazosin hydrochloride are under recall due to a cancer-causing nitrosamine impurity—Teva Pharmaceuticals USA initiated the recall at an FDA Class II risk level. Those taking the medication should check their lot numbers and contact their pharmacist while also following healthy lifestyle changes to manage high blood pressure.  Mansfield News Journal

  • Twenty-one Richland County girls soccer players earned All-MOAC honors for the 2025 season—10 from Clear Fork, Ontario and Shelby received first team honors while the remaining players were named to the second team and as honorable mentions.  Mansfield News Journal
  • After the 2025 high school football season ended, the Ohio Cardinal Conference named its All-OCC teams—senior quarterback Joe Caudill was named Defensive Player of the Year and Cohen Lautzenhiser received Special Teams Player of the Year honors, while Mansfield Senior saw DaJahn Corbin and Tia Pickett earn first team spots.  Mansfield News Journal
  • The Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference announced its all-conference teams for the 2025 high school football season, with Richland County’s Shelby Whippets leading by earning seven first-team honors—players include Quinton Albert, Bryce Booker, Carter Kessler, Brayden DeVito, Brady Bowman, Michael Shepherd and Sam Gwirtz.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Thirteen Richland County boys soccer players were named to the 2025 All-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference list, with Clear Fork players earning first team honors—helping their team win its first outright league championship.
