- ➤ The community will attend the Clear Fork Empty Bowls Soup Luncheon and fundraiser on November 9 at Clear Fork High School (987 Ohio 97) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., where guests who donate $15 or more will receive a hand-painted bowl and help support the Bellville Neighborhood Outreach Center Food Pantry. - ➤ Sami’s Toys for Kids drive, created by the late Sam Ramirez and sponsored by iHeartMedia Ashland/Mansfield, Mechanics Bank, and Buckeye Thrift, is accepting toy and cash donations at Mechanics Bank locations through November to brighten local children's holidays. Donations will be distributed by local organizations—Wayfinders of Ohio, Domestic Violence Shelter of Richland County, Mansfield City Schools S.A.F.E. program, Richland County 211, Richland County Children’s Services and L.O.A.M.—to help families in need. - ➤ Mike Woogerd has been named Mansfield’s parks superintendent—bringing local roots, a degree in natural resource management from Ohio State, and experience from Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks—and he succeeds Mark Abrams after his 11-year tenure, with the appointment taking effect on November 3. - ➤ Early calls about Christmas trees signal a shift in the holiday season among Richland County residents as families plan to decorate before Thanksgiving — Kevin Kleer of Kleerview Farms, with 40 years in business, said tree sales will start at 10:00 a.m. Nov. 22.
