BUSINESS NEWS

  • Richland County will hold its Shop Small — Richland County event on Nov. 22 with free transit, in-store prize drawings, and countywide $100 giveaways so residents can shop local before Black Friday. Local business feedback moved the event one week early to give shoppers more time and a chance to enjoy the football game.  Mansfield News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a recent Mansfield City Council meeting, the council honored Mekel, a Czech German shepherd who retired Oct. 16 after six years with the Mansfield Police Department, with officer Jake Rietschlin praising the dog's tracking work in solving cases. The council also amended a 1997 ordinance to impose stricter fines on truck drivers for not following designated routes—new signage will be posted in the north and south parts of the city.  Mansfield News Journal
