  • Starbucks is offering a free reusable red cup with every holiday drink purchase today and features new Bearista and Hello Kitty designs along with popular drinks like Peppermint Mocha. The coffee chain also announced plans to close some stores and lay off employees, which may affect local Ohio locations—raising concerns for regular customers.  Mansfield News Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • After the northern lights lit up Ohio on Nov. 11, a strong geomagnetic storm watch is in effect for today — residents should move away from city lights between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. to catch the aurora if skies remain clear.  Mansfield News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • House Bill 21 passed on Nov. 12 and would allow Ohio residents to deduct their monthly contributions to religious health care sharing ministries and require ministries to retain members after a medical condition develops—supporters say the measure expands choice while critics warn it may not provide full insurance protections.  Mansfield News Journal
  • Ohio Consumers’ Counsel celebrated a Supreme Court decision that let a lower court ruling stand on an extra fee added to electric bills—this decision will save Ohioans over $400 million through 2031. Duke and FirstEnergy customers will start getting rebates in the first half of 2026 while AEP customers remain protected—ensuring many pay less.  NBC4i

  • Randy and Lisa Payne donated $5 million to help finish the new Jode Cancer Center in Ontario that honors family members lost to cancer. Over 700 donors gave nearly $9.3 million toward the $10 million goal while state funds helped move the $15 million project forward.  Mansfield News Journal
