- ➤ Skate Ohio will host a free community celebration on Dec. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Crossroads Ontario Campus featuring Skater of the Year awards, a silent auction, raffle, Q&A session and an obstacle reveal. Attendees must RSVP due to limited space and local businesses are invited to sponsor tables (each seating up to seven guests). Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ A foot infection that led to kidney failure has left a local father unable to work, straining his family’s finances under the Brighten A Christmas program that began on Dec. 4. Donors may help the family by giving cash, checks or gift cards at Mechanics Bank branches (include case number). Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ Christmas Time In The City kicks off the holiday season today at Richland Carrousel Park and downtown from 5-8 p.m. The event features Santa, live reindeer, and a 30-foot tree lighting at 6 p.m.-plus ice sculpting, caroling, cookie decorating and a beer garden. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ Dr. Stjepan Gardilcic retires after 40 years in urology and will be honored with an open house (4-7 p.m. today) at his office, 675 Bally Row in Mansfield. Community members, patients, and friends are invited to join the celebration. Mansfield News Journal

- ➤ A tour of Christmas at Kingwood displays is set for later this month, showcasing festive decor inside and outside local venues — the event offers a warm way for community members to enjoy the season. Mansfield News Journal
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Ohio dropped for a second consecutive week with Monday's average falling to $2.59 per gallon from last week's $2.81. The price is 14% lower than a year ago and 13.4% below the national average, according to the EIA. Mansfield News Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mansfield city council passed an ordinance allowing residents to keep up to six backyard chickens with a $100 registration fee, mandatory poultry course, and property inspection. The law will take effect on April 1 and aims to support responsible hen ownership and local food access. News 5 Cleveland
