- ➤ James Gunn's Superman movie opened in theaters on July 11 and fans and critics said the film did well, with parts shot in Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Mentor. Ohio lawmakers will consider a bill to name Superman the state's official superhero on April 18 + the proposal shows the movie's cultural impact. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ The Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, known for its role in The Shawshank Redemption and its haunted history, will host summer paranormal events including ghost hunts, ghost walks and a Paranormal Institute from today through December—attendees must reserve spots at fees of $45 to $135—and some events require renting ghost hunt equipment. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ OhioHealth installed metal detectors at Mansfield and Shelby hospitals as part of a plan to keep care facilities weapons-free. The company will extend the new screening measures to 26 sites statewide by the end of the year—aiming to reduce workplace violence and protect patients, visitors, and staff. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ Women’s Fund of The Shelby Foundation is hosting a heart health talk on July 28 at the Shelby Community and Senior Center (154 N. Gamble St.) where heart attack survivor Sue Ann Payne and experts from OhioHealth Mansfield will explain how to prevent heart disease.
