- ➤ Bryce Imars of the Mansfield Ohio Highway Patrol devised a plan—first responders and Shelby High School students will honor the victims of 9/11 with a community ceremony. The event will bring local participants together to remember those lost. Mansfield News Journal
- ➤ The public is invited to gather in the parking lot of the Area Agency on Aging at Park Avenue West and Lexington-Springmill Road to welcome veterans home from their three-day Honor Bus trip to Washington D.C.—veterans are scheduled to arrive between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ AccuWeather and Old Farmer's Almanac forecast that leaves will start changing in late September and reach peak color by mid-October (Ohio is expected to show vibrant red, orange and golden hues this fall). This prediction follows last year's early, muted colors caused by drought despite adequate spring and summer rain. Mansfield News Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Doctors warned that Ohio will soon see an increase in flu and RSV cases as colder weather arrives, and they urged everyone six months and older to get a flu shot. Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff and Dr. Jason Newland said proper hygiene and timely vaccinations are key to keeping the viruses from worsening—RSV poses extra risk for babies. NBC4i
